The majority of people dealing with addiction are also managing depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or ADHD — and attempting to treat one without addressing the other is a recipe for an incomplete recovery. Psychiatric care at Barbell Saves is designed to close that gap, with licensed psychiatric providers embedded directly in our treatment team.

A psychiatric evaluation at Barbell Saves is a thorough, unhurried assessment of your mental health history, current symptoms, medication history, and the ways your mental health and substance use may be interacting. Our providers are experienced with the complexity of co-occurring disorders — they understand that some symptoms that look like stand-alone psychiatric conditions are actually driven by substance use, and some substance use is driven by undiagnosed or undertreated psychiatric conditions. Getting that picture right is the foundation of a medication plan that actually works.

For clients already on psychiatric medications, we provide ongoing management: monitoring effectiveness, adjusting dosages, addressing side effects, and coordinating with your prescribing provider if you have one outside our center. For clients who are medication-naive or who have never received a psychiatric evaluation, we can conduct the initial assessment and develop a plan from scratch. Our psychiatric providers communicate regularly with your therapist and, where appropriate, your primary care provider — so your medications are always understood in context, not managed in a vacuum.

Psychiatric services are available to all ages and are integrated into our IOP, outpatient, and standalone service offerings. Many clients find that the combination of appropriate medication support and evidence-based therapy dramatically accelerates their progress in treatment.
